Women's Bundesliga: record revenues (an average of €1.1m) for clubs in 2019-20, despite the crisis

"Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on match operations in the Flyeralarm Frauen-Bundesliga, total revenues per club increased to a new high of €1.1m on average. Total expenses also increased despite Coronavirus," announced the Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB), the organizing body of the elite women's football championship in Germany, in its 2019-20 annual report published on 10/02/2021 (document available to download).

"With a share of 53% of total revenues, advertising revenues occupy a significant place in the revenue structure. Matchday revenue continues to make up only a very small proportion of the total revenue. The reason for this is the relatively low number of spectators. The exclusion of spectators from Matchday 17 due to the pandemic therefore only had a minor direct influence on the economic situation of the clubs in the Flyeralarm Frauen-Bundesliga," explained the DFB.
