CAF: CAS reduces Ahmad Ahmad's suspension from 5 to 2 years, Constant Omari named interim president

A panel of arbitrators from the Court of Arbitration for Sport has partially accepted the appeal of Mr Ahmad Ahmad (MAD) and has reduced the duration of the suspension imposed on him to two years (instead of five years), as of today, minus the period of suspension already served between 19/11/2020 and 29/01/2021 (two months and 10 days), and has also reduced the fine, now set at 50,000 Swiss francs (€45,000, instead of CHF200,000/€180,000), announced CAS on 08/03/2021.

Ahmad Ahmad (MAD), president of CAF since 16/03/2017 and vice-president of FIFA, had been banned "from all football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level for five years. In addition, a fine in the amount of CHF200,000 (€185,000) has been imposed," announced the adjudicatory chamber of FIFA's independent Ethics Committee previously on 23/11/2020.
