Premier League: Ronald Koeman succeeds Mauricio Pochettino as Southampton manager

Ronald Koeman (the Netherlands) has been appointed manager of Southampton FC (Premier League) until 2017, the club announced on 16/06/2014. He is replacing Mauricio Pochettino (Argentina), who was tapped to manage Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League) on 27/05/2014.

Koeman, 51, had managed Feyenoord Rotterdam (Eredivisie, HOL) since 2011. The former defender (78 caps, 14 goals) will be assisted at Southampton by his brother Erwin Koeman, who was appointed assistant manager, and by Jan Kluitenberg, who is to be the club's physical trainer.

Southampton finished in 8th in Premier League with 56 points.
