Germany: sublicense agreements between ARD/ZDF and Deustche Telekom (Euro 2020+2024, 2022 World Cup)

The German telecommunications operator Deutsche Telekom and the German public broadcasting groups ARD and ZDF (via their agency SportA) have announced the signing of several sublicensing agreements for the broadcasting in Germany of Euro 2020 (postponed to 2021), the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 (to be held in Germany), on 09/03/2021.

• Euro 2020: Deutsche Telekom has been awarded the pay-TV rights for all 51 matches of the competition, including 10 matches in the group stage on an exclusive live basis. The other 41 matches (including those of Germany, the opening match, the semi-finals and the final) will be broadcast on ARD or ZDF.

• 2022 World Cup: Deutsche Telekom has been allocated the pay-TV rights for all 64 matches, including 16 exclusive live matches. The other 48 matches (including Germany's) will be broadcast on ARD or ZDF.

• Euro 2024: ARD and ZDF have acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights to 34 of the 51 matches (including Germany's, the opening match, the semi-finals and the final) as well as match highlights of all 51 matches and radio rights. Deutsche Telekom…
