esports: $1.084bn in revenue forecast in 2021 (+14.5%) and $1.617bn in 2024 (Newzoo report)

Global eports revenues will reach $1.084bn (€911m on 10/03/2021) in 2021, compared to $947m in 2020, an increase of 14.5%, announced the New Zealand consulting firm Newzoo in its "Global Esports and Live Streaming Market Report 2021", published on 09/03/2021.

According to Newzoo, revenues from media rights and sponsorship will amount to $833.6m (€700.6m) in 2021, or 76.9% of the overall esports market revenue.

"Last year, the pandemic disrupted the esports and live-streaming markets alike. On the live-streaming side, lockdown measures resulted in spiking viewership across all platforms. More consumers were—and still are—confined to their homes, driving them to spend more time on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Huya.
