IOC: Thomas Bach (GER) re-elected for a second and final term as president (2021-2025)

Thomas Bach was re-elected as president of the International Olympic Committee at the 137^th IOC Session, which was held by video conference on 10/03/2021. The German, the only candidate in the running, received 93 of the 94 votes cast (1 vote against and 4 abstentions).

Thomas Bach was elected IOC president for a first term of eight years in Buenos Aires (ARG) on 10/09/2013. This mandate will end on the closing day of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on 08/08/2021. Thomas Bach's second and final term of office (of four years) will begin immediately thereafter and will end in 2025, in accordance with the International Olympic Committee's statutes.

For me, this is even more overwhelming considering the many reforms and the many difficult decisions we had to take, which affected all of us. You know that this touches me deeply.
