Portugal: German kit supplier Adidas extends sponsorship of Benfica through 2021

Adidas has extended its official equipment contract with Benfica (Liga Zon Sagres champion in 2013-14, POR) until the end of the 2020-21 season, the club announced on 19/06/2014. Adidas has equipped the Portuguese club each season since 1983-84 (except for the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons, when the club was under contract with the Danish brand Hummel). The amount of the new contract has not been disclosed.

The previous contract was signed on 06/01/2003 for a period of 10 years, through the end of the 2013-14 season. The agreement then was for €4.5m per season.

"We worked hard together as a real team, in executing a business plan that always obtained excellent results. Consequently, contract renewal through 2021 made sense. We are the kit supplier for the world's best clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, so we are honoured to renew our contract with the Portuguese champions," said Nigel Griffiths, CEO of Adidas Iberia, on 19/06/2014.
