Brazil 2014: Attendance surpasses 1m for first 20 matches (fill rate: 97.8%)

1,013,613 spectators attended the first 20 matches of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, from 12/06/2014 to 18/06/2014, according to the totals calculated by News Tank. The 12 stadiums of the World Cup had an average occupancy rate of 97.82% from the opening match (Brazil-Croatia, 3-1, group A) in the Arena de Sao Paulo (capacity 62,601) on 12/06/2014 and the Cameroon-Croatia match (0-4, group A) at the Arena Amazonia (capacity 40,549) on 18/06/2014.

37 of 64 matches (57.8%), including the opening match, semi-finals and final will be played to sold-out crowds, stated the organising committee of the World Cup on 05/06/2014.

Brazil-Mexico (0-0, group A, 17/06/2014) at the Estádio Castelão (capacity 60,342) in Fortaleza and Argentina-Bosnia and Herzegovina (2-1, 15/06/2014) at the Maracana stadium (capacity 74,738) in Rio de Janeiro are the only ones to have reached an occupancy rate of 100%. Argentina-Bosnia and Herzegovina also had the highest attendance among the first 20 matches of the World Cup.
