esports/Astralis: a turnover of €6.9m (+6.3%) 2020, including 66% from sponsorship revenues

Astralis Group posted a turnover of DKK51.5m (€6.9m) for the financial year 2020 (01/01 to 31/12/2020) hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, up 6.3% compared to 2019 (€6.5m) at constant perimeter, announced the Danish esports organisation that was founded in 2016, on 15/03/2021.

As since 2017 (when the annual accounts were first disclosed), the operating and net results remain negative: Astralis posted an EBIT of -€6.7m (+24.5% versus 2019) and a net loss of €7.1m (+53.5%).

66% of the Copenhagen-based group's revenue comes from partnerships (Hummel, Unibet / Kindred Group, Audi, etc.), amounting to DKK34m (€4.57m). This figure is up sharply from 2019 (2.5 times more), when Astralis received DKK13.5m (€1.8m) from sponsors. 27% of revenues, or DKK13.7m (€1.8m), comes from prize money from esports competitions.

"The financial targets for Astralis Group for the financial year ending 31/12/2021 are in the range between DKK70m - DKK80m, which is an increase of 35-55%, and an EBITDA in the range between DKK-5m and DKK-10m," said the group.
