John Donahoe (USA), eBay's president, joins Nike board

John Donahoe (USA) has joined Nike's board, the American kit supplier announced on 19/06/2014.

John Donahoe has been the president of eBay, an internet sales platform, since 2008. Under his leadership, eBay had a turnover of €11.8bn in 2013. He has also been on the board of Intel IT since 2009.

"John’s executive management experience in digital commerce, technology, strategic planning, and marketing for a global brand makes him an excellent addition to our board,” said Philip H. Knight, Nike co-founder and chairman of the board. The Nike board has 14 members.

  • Nike leads the sportswear market with a 2013 turnover of €18.7bn (17% market share), against €14.49bn for Adidas (12%).
  • Adidas, a German company, leads however in football, with €1.77bn in sales in 2013. Nike ranks second with €1.4bn.
