French government: "Anti-piracy bill marks the start of the fightback (Y. Al-Obaidly, beIN Sports)

"For too long, pirates have been given every advantage to continue their criminality. However this new legislation marks the start of the fightback, which couldn’t be more urgent given piracy is reaching the point of no return," said Yousef Al-Obaidly, CEO of beIN Media Group and president of beIN Sports France, on 22/03/2021, regarding the adoption of article 10 of the "Sport and Democracy" legislation adopted by the French National Assembly on 19/03/2021.

"The provisions provided for in article 10 of the bill allow rights holders and broadcasters to quickly obtain from the judge a dynamic order valid for 12 months, making it possible to prevent access and de-listing pirate sites and servers. The dynamic nature of the order makes it possible to extend its effectiveness to pirate sites and servers that would be discovered after the issuance of the order, within the framework of a dialogue between the parties to the procedure," explained the French Association for the Protection of Sports Programs (APPS) on 19/03/2021.
