Tennis/Covid-19: Miami Open installs "cabanas", a premium offer outside the courts

The Miami Open (Florida, USA) is adapting its hospitality service in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and is offering "cabanas" (huts) outside the courts so that the public can follow the matches on-site, via a big screen, throughout the event which runs from 22/03 to 04/04/2021.

Although the 2021 editions of the ATP Masters 1000 and the WTA 1000 in Miami will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami (65,000 capacity), no matches will be played in the stadium itself, which has provided a 14,000 capacity centre court since 2019. Smaller courts have therefore been designated by IMG, the organiser of the Miami Open (since 1999). A limited number of spectators are allowed to sit in the stands to watch the matches.

This means that the tournament has been deprived of most of the general public ticketing and VIP services that the Hard Rock Stadium usually offers. These "cabanas" have been set up at the main plaza of the site (Fountain Plaza), allowing four people to meet in two "tents" next to each other. This hospitality service is priced at $1,250 per week for four people…
