Bundesliga: Mewa (textiles) succeeds Opel as naming partner of FSV Mainz's stadium in 2021-2026

Mewa, a German specialty textile company based in Wiesbaden (Hesse, Germany, neighbouring Mainz), has extended its partnership with FSV Mainz 05 (Bundesliga) and obtained the naming rights for its stadium for 2021-2026, on 24/03/2021.

The stadium (34,000 capacity) will be named Mewa Arena from July 2021. The agreement was negotiated by Infront, the club's marketing agency. Mewa will pay an annual fee of €2.3m to FSV Mainz, according to German media.

In addition to the naming rights, Mewa, which has been a partner of the club since 2013, will receive advertising and hospitality packages at the FSV Mainz 05 stadium. Mewa first gave its name to a box within the stadium (Mewa Lounge) before acquiring the naming of a stand in 2019.

Mewa will succeed Opel (a subsidiary of the American group General Motors), which acquired the same rights on 19/05/2016: the stadium is named the Opel Arena for the 2016-2021 period (€2m/season).
