FIFA/2022 budget: $4.666bn in expected revenues, including 56% from TV rights

"The total revenue budget for 2022 amounts to $4.666bn (€3.907bn as of 19/03/2021), of which $3.807bn (€3.188bn, 82%) had been contracted at the balance sheet date of 31/12/2020," said FIFA, presenting its 2022 budget, which was validated by the FIFA Council on 19/03/2021.

2022 is the last year of the 2019-2022 quadrennial cycle, which ends as always on the last day of the year of the World Cup (22^nd edition in Qatar from 21/11 to 18/12/2022).

TV rights are the most important of the five major sources of revenue (56%, $2.640bn/€2.210bn) in FIFA's budget, followed by marketing rights (29%, $1.353bn /€1.133bn). Ticketing and hospitality as well as licensing fees and other revenues account for the remaining 15% (see below).

"FIFA remains well on course to achieve the overall revenue budget figure for the full cycle of $6.44bn (€5.39bn). As at the end of 2020, 80% of the full cycle budget had been already contracted.
