Netherlands: KPN (telecoms) title sponsor of the 2021 eDivisie, the Eredivisie's esports competition

KPN, a Dutch telecommunications operator, has extended its partnership with the Eredivisie and become the title sponsor of the body's esports competition, the "KPN eDivisie", for the 2021 season, which starts on 30/03/2021, announced the Dutch league on 26/03/2021.

KPN, main partner of the Eredivisie for the 2017-2021 cycle, was previously a partner of the esports competition for its launch in 2017-18 and for the following season in 2018-19. The telecommunications group re-committed to the eDivisie for the 2020-2022 cycle (+2022-23 as an option) on 16/11/2020.

The Dutch insurance company FBTO and H&M Netherlands (clothing) are the other two partners of the eDivisie, a competition played on the FIFA (EA Sports) video game. For the 2021 season, eDivisie prize money is €50,000 (€100,000 in 2020).

In addition to this agreement, KPN is also supporting the E_Oranje, the esports initiative of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). While the telecoms company has been an official partner of the Eredivisie since 2014-15, it has a history of involvement with the Dutch League since 1990…
