UEFA: launch of "Cleaner Air, Better Game" (anti-pollution campaign) for European U21 Championship

"Cleaner Air, Better Game" is the slogan of the awareness campaign launched by UEFA's "Football and Social Responsibility" division coinciding with the beginning of the group stage of the European U21 Championship, which began in Hungary and Slovenia on 24/03/2021.

The objective of the campaign is "to highlight the growing threat to public health of air pollution, which annually claims more than 8 million lives around the world," explained UEFA.

During the group (24-31/03/2021) and knockout (31/05 - 06/06/2021) stages, UEFA will lead a range of pilot initiatives (including the dedicated platform "Count Us In") that underline its commitment to making the championships a carbon-neutral event," added the European body.

"If 'Cleaner Air, Better Game' can inspire everyone involved in football to take small individual actions to improve air quality, there will be collective benefits for all of our society," said UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.
