LFP: Disciplinary proceedings opened on 87 players accused of betting

The LFP (French Professional Football League) is investigating 87 players in professional clubs (Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and the professional clubs in National) that have not complied with the ban on sports betting in LFP-organised competitions, the body announced on 23/06/2014.

"In accordance with article 124 of the general regulations of the FFF (French Football Federation) and article 407 of the laws of the LFP, the disciplinary committee will investigate the cases of 87 players in professional clubs who have not complied with the ban on betting on sports competitions organised by the LFP, despite the informational campaigns by the LFP, l’UCPF (Union of Professional Football Clubs), and the UNFP (National Union of Professional Footballers)," the LFP stated on 23/06/2014.

Players from French professional clubs betting on professional matches in France are breaking the law of 01/02/2012, as well as the regulations of the FFF and the LFP.
