The Lega Serie A has awarded the Serie A TIM broadcasting rights (7 out of 10 matches on an exclusive basis, and the other 3 on a non-exclusive basis) in Italy, for the 2021-2024 cycle, to the OTT platform DAZN, at its general assembly, on 26/03/2021.

16 of the 20 Serie A TIM clubs voted in favour of DAZN's bid (14 were needed for the rights to be awarded). Telecom Italia, is also involved in the bid and is said to be providing 40% of DAZN's expected payments, according to media reports.

Sky Italia, which is in competition with DAZN in the call tenders, could acquire the rights to broadcast three games per matchday on a non-exclusive basis for €70m per season, according to Italian media, which also mentioned a possible appeal by the pay-TV operator against the awarding of the rights to DAZN.

Sky Italia and DAZN currently hold the rights for the 2018-2021 cycle for €973m per season (7 matches exclusively on Sky and 3 on DAZN).

The Italian League has yet to award its international rights (excluding in the US, see related article), for the 2021-2024 cycle.
