Serie A TV rights: new call for tenders for the unallocated lot, Sky's offer (€87.5m/year) refused

Lega Serie A is preparing a new call for tenders for Lot 2 (non-exclusive rights to 3 games per matchday) of the domestic broadcasting rights to the Serie A TIM over the 2021-2024 cycle, following the non-allocation of the lot to the pay-TV operator Sky Italia, on 29/03/2021.

Sky Italia offered €87.5m per season for the package during exclusive negotiations (after an initial offer of €70m per year), according to Italian media reports. 13 clubs accepted the offer (14 were needed for the deal to be validated) and 7 abstained (Juventus FC, FC Inter Milan, SSC Napoli, SS Lazio, Atalanta BC, Hellas Verona FC, ACF Fiorentina).

The other candidates potentially interested in this lot are the American e-commerce group Amazon, the American audiovisual group Discovery (parent company of the pay-TV group Eurosport) and the Italian audiovisual group Mediaset (especially if one of the matches can be broadcast free-to-air), according to Italian media.
