LFP: eLigue 1 Tour, the League's first international esports competition to be played in 6 countries

The Ligue de Football Professionnel has launched its first international esports competition, the eLigue 1 Tour, with qualifying rounds played in six countries between January and March 2021, announced the French League on 30/03/2021. The competition is played on the FIFA 21 video game (published by EA Sports).

"As a pioneer league in esports, the Ligue 1 Uber Eats is now making it a lever of its internationalisation strategy by creating the eLigue 1 Tour. Launched in January 2021, the eLigue 1 Tour is an amateur esports competition played on FIFA 21 and open to Ligue 1 Uber Eats fans from all over the world, whatever their level," explained the LFP.

"For this first edition, the eLigue 1 Tour has made stops in six countries: Brazil, Ivory Coast, the United States, Japan, Morocco and Qatar. Between January and March 2021, more than 3,000 participants competed in the qualification phases of the online and offline tournaments organised in these six countries," said the body.
