Bundesliga International: DFL seeks investors for a maximum of 25 years and 25.1% shareholding

The DFL has sent a document to some 30 private equity firms offering them the opportunity to acquire shares in two new entities dedicated to the marketing of the international media and marketing rights to the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, according to the German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, which interviewed Christian Seifert (see below), CEO of the DFL, on 26/03/2021. Interested parties have until the end of April or the beginning of May (2021) to respond.

The DFL wants to create two new entities, provisionally called "MediaCo" and "DigitalCo". The first will absorb Bundesliga International, the DFL's subsidiary in charge of marketing international rights since 2008. The second will be responsible for the marketing of the German League's esports competitions.

An international digital platform will also be launched to support the international development of the League, which claims 295 million TV viewers in over 210 countries.
