Formula 1: record audience of 1.98 million viewers for the Bahrain GP on Sky Sports in the UK

The Bahrain Grand Prix, the first GP of the 2021 Formula One season, won by Britain's Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), drew an average of 1.98 million viewers in the UK, with a peak audience of 2.23 million, on the pay-TV bouquet Sky Sports on Sunday 28/03/2021 (race start at 17:00 CET). This is a record audience for a Formula One Grand Prix broadcast on Sky Sports.

The qualifying session also set a new audience record with an average of 1.14 million viewers on Sky Sports, and a peak audience of 1.34 million on Saturday 27/03/2021. This is the first time that a qualifying session broadcast on the British pay-TV bouquet has exceeded one million viewers.

In France, the Bahrain Grand Prix 2021 drew an average of 1.89 million viewers, with a peak audience of 2.34 million (at 18.38 CET), on Canal+ (free-to-air), according to data from the audience measurement institute Médiamétrie. This also represented an audience record for a Formula 1 Grand Prix broadcast on Canal+. Audience share: 16%.
