SL Benfica: Estádio da Luz, the first Portuguese stadium with 5G coverage

The Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, better known as the Stadio de la Luz (64,165 capacity), has become the first Portuguese stadium to be equipped with 5G coverage, announced SL Benfica (Liga NOS), on 09/04/2021.

The installation of 5G at the Lisbon club's stadium was carried out in cooperation with NOS, the Portuguese telecommunications group, an official partner of SL Benfica. "The 5G network will allow more than 65,000 fans at the Sport Lisboa e Benfica stadium to experience mobile internet access that is, on average, 10 times faster than usual, with speeds of over 1 Gbps. This means that, even at full capacity, supporters can download and upload images and videos almost instantaneously. Fans can also look forward to having video calls without any interruption," said the club.

"5G in the Estádio da Luz is powered by a system of 5G antennas in each of the stands, which ensures full coverage of the public areas, and is complemented by a system of 5G cells to ensure VIP areas of the stadium, such as the Press Center, the Presidential Box or the NOS Box.
