"We have not been involved in any discussions for this proposed Super League. We are proud to offer our Prime members the football which matters most to them and to present the action in the most innovative ways, including UEFA Champions League football in Germany and Italy and the Premier League football in the UK," stated Amazon Prime Video Sport, a subsidiary of the US e-commerce group Amazon, on 20/04/2021.

12 European clubs - six English, three Spanish, and three Italian (Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, AC Milan, FC Inter Milan, and Juventus FC) - announced on 18/04/2021 the creation of a new competition, the Super League, directly governed by its founding clubs. The project now appears to be abandoned as of 21/04/2021.
