Bundesliga: after 30 seasons in the top flight, Schalke 04 will be relegated at the end of 2020-21

After losing 1-0 to DSC Arminia Bielefeld in Matchday 30 of the Bundesliga on 20/04/2021, FC Schalke 04 are officially relegated to the 2.Bundesliga at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Results after 30 rounds: 13 points from 2 wins, 7 draws, and 21 defeats. Thus, over the last four matchdays of the 2020-21 German championship, the Ruhr club can no longer mathematically make up for its 13 point deficit to Hertha BSC, the relegation play-off place (16^th).

FC Schalke 04 have been playing in the Bundesliga since the 1991-92 season. Out of these 30 consecutive top-flight seasons, the Gelsenkirchen club has been vice-champion of Germany five times (2000-01, 2004-05, 2006-07, 2009-10, and 2017-18) and has reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2010-11 (6-1 defeat on aggregate against Manchester United FC). During this period, FC Schalke won three German Cups (DFB-Pokal, in 2000-01, 2001-02, and 2010-11) and the German Super Cup in 2011.
