ECA: Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (PSG) named chairman, succeeding Andrea Agnelli (Juve), who has resigned

The ECA Executive Board has today appointed Nasser Al-Khelaifi (president & CEO of Paris Saint-Germain) as the new chairman of ECA," announced the European Club Association on 21/04/2021.

Andrea Agnelli, chairman of Juventus FC (Serie A TIM), resigned his chairmanship of the ECA to become vice-chairman of "The Super League", a company created by 12 major clubs (6 English, 3 Spanish, and 3 Italian) to organise a new European mid-week competition, on 18/04/2021. But the 6 English clubs finally gave up on 04/20/2021, followed by 4 other clubs (including Juventus) on 21/04/2021.

Andrea Agnelli had been chairman of the ECA since September 2017, and was reelected for the 2019-2023 period on 10/09/2019.

"ECA firmly believes this (Super League) project could not succeed because football, at its core, is based on openness, sporting excellence and an inherent connection between everyone across the football family.
