"I am a little sad and disappointed. We have been working for three years on this project, on what we can do to improve the economic situation of football. We have been treated as if we want to kill football, when what we want is to save it," said Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) and chairman of "The Super League", on Spanish radio Cadena Ser on 21/04/2021.

"The Super League" is a company whose creation was announced on the evening of 18/04/2021 by 12 major English (6), Spanish (3), and Italian (3) clubs in order to organise "as soon as possible" a European Super League managed by its founder clubs.

• The 6 English: Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC, and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
• The 3 Spanish: Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid CF.
• The 3 Italian: AC Milan, FC Inter Milan, and Juventus FC.

But faced with very negative reactions from supporters, authorities, the football world and political leaders, the 6 English clubs announced their withdrawal late on 20/04/2021, followed the next day…
