FC Girondins de Bordeaux: King Street fund pulls out, club placed under the protection of the courts

The American investment fund King Street Capital Management, "after having invested €46m in the club since its takeover, has indicated that it no longer wishes to support the club and finance its current and future needs," announced FC Girondins de Bordeaux, 16^th in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats after 33 matchdays, on 22/04/2021.

The president of the Bordeaux club, Frédéric Longuépée, made the decision to place the club under the protection of the commercial court of Bordeaux (FRA), specified the club.

"An ad hoc legal representative has been appointed, and this person will be responsible for assisting FC Girondins de Bordeaux in its search for a lasting solution," added the club, which justifies the use of this procedure dedicated to companies in financial difficulty it is encountering due to the crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic (matches behind closed doors, withdrawal of Mediapro in France, etc.), which its owner King Street now refuses to face.
