Weibo: Portuguese Federation, first to form a strategic partnership with the Chinese social network

Weibo, a Chinese social network owned by the Sina Sports group, has become a "strategic partner" of the Federaçao Portuguesa de Futebol from 2021, announced the Portuguese Federation on 23/04/2021. The FPF has over 3 million subscribers on its Weibo account.

"The Portuguese Football Federation continues to grow its presence in China, becoming the first football federation to sign a strategic partnership with China's leading social media platform, Weibo. This partnership comes shortly after the inauguration of the national team's official store on Alibaba Tmall (e-commerce site) earlier this year," said the FPF, which has "20 million fans in China."

"As an innovative and digitally focused federation, the FPF will leverage the Weibo platform with exclusive original and personalised content for fans of Portugal in China. The FPF recognises that Weibo, by supporting the sports industry and following its unique style of communication on social media, will maximise reach and communication with the thousands of existing fans as well as potential new fans of Portugal in China," explained…
