2021-22 European Top 5: Watford FC promoted to Premier League, Dijon FCO relegated to Ligue 2 BKT

Watford FC are assured of a top-two finish in the 2020-21 Sky Bet Championship after a 1-0 win over Millwall FC on 24/04/2021 on Matchday 44 the penultimate matchday of the English second division.

The club from the north-western suburbs of London (ENG), 2^nd in the league, total 88 points - 10 more than the 3^rd place team with two games to go - and join Norwich City FC, leader with 93 points, for a return to the Premier League, just one year after their relegation.

The clubs in third, fourth, fifth and sixth place in the Championship will compete in playoffs for the third and final ticket to the top flight (see below). In terms of relegation, only Sheffield United FC have been officially relegated to the Sky Bet Championship after 33 Premier League matches.

In France, Dijon FCO's defeat by Stade Rennais FC (5-1, Matchday 34 of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats, 25/04/2021) condemned them to be relegated to the Ligue 2 BKT. The club thus ends a series of five consecutive seasons in Ligue 1.
