The pay-TV group Sky has extended its TV rights to the Betfred Super League for the UK and Ireland for two years, 2022 and 2023, announced the professional rugby league of English and French teams on 28/04/2021.

"Sky Sports will continue to show 66 live matches exclusively per season, including all flagship events. The new agreement will see Sky Sports have the first pick of games in each of the regular season rounds as well as first pick in each of the play-off weeks, meaning fans can expect to find the biggest clashes each week live and exclusive on Sky Sports. Sky Sports will also work with Super League to reach new audiences and will make some of this season's fixtures available via free-to-air Sky platforms," explained the league.

The value of the new deal is said to be around £25m (€28.7m) a year, compared to the current £40m (€46m) a year, according to British press reports on 28/04/2021.
