230m people have used The Global Stadium, a social network available on computers and mobile devices for the 2014 World Cup (Brazil, from 12/06 to 13/07/2014), announced FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) on 27/06/2014. 7.5bn page views have been made on the network since the start of the competition.

The Global Stadium was launched by FIFA on 29/05/2014. It invites fans to follow the 64 matches of the World Cup live and to discuss them amongst themselves as well as with players, managers and celebrities. The record usage was recorded during U.S. - Germany (0-1, on 26/06/2014 at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife); 79m fans were logged on.

“This is developing into the mobile and social World Cup. The Global Stadium reflects the sense of togetherness that the World Cup brings and the shared excitement that digital platforms offer. The strong growth in our mobile audience, particularly in the app, has kept fans engaged whether they are on the move or as a second screen companion,” said Matt Stone, FIFA's head of digital, on 27/06/2014.
