esports: Huya (streaming) broadcaster of the Chinese LoL league in China for €256.4m (2021-2025)

The Chinese live-streaming platform Huya has acquired, from TJ Sports (a joint venture between Riot Games and Tencent), the exclusive broadcasting rights, for China, to the LPL, the Chinese League of Legends league, its development league (LDL), and the LPL All-Star event for the 2021-2025 cycle, on 27/04/2021.

Huya will spend CHY2.013bn (€256.4m) over these five years, according to the group's annual accounts published on 27/04/2021. As part of this agreement, the streaming platform also obtains exclusivity for VoD rights for three years (2021-2023).

Huya also holds the broadcasting rights to the South Korean league of LoL (LCK), in China, for 2020-2022 following an agreement on 20/11/2019. Also in the Chinese market, Huya added the European (LEC) and North American (LCS) leagues to its 2020-2022 media rights portfolio on 20/01/2020. Thus, Huya is the broadcaster of the four major professional leagues of LoL in the Chinese market.
