The 18 Liga NOS clubs posted a total of €734m in revenue during the 2019-20 season, down 11.2% compared to the revenue accumulated in 2018-19 (€827m), according to the "Portuguese Professional Football Yearbook 2019-20" a report carried out by the audit and consultancy firm EY for Liga Portugal and published on 22/04/2021.

"Revenues from the sale of players (€287m) and TV rights (€159m) continued to be the two main sources of income, accounting for 40% and 22% of cumulative revenues respectively, but showed a decline. (...) Matchday and merchandising revenues also fell by €9m compared to the previous season, due to the end of the season being played behind closed doors (from matchday 25 onwards)," said EY in its report.

"72% of the total revenue of Liga NOS clubs (€528) was generated by the country's three biggest clubs, SL Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal," said the audit and consultancy firm.
