Super League: Barça, Juventus and Real Madrid defend the project and denounce pressures and threats

"The founding clubs have suffered, and continue to suffer, unacceptable third-party pressures, threats, and offenses to abandon the project," said FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), Juventus FC (Serie A TIM) and Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) in a joint press release on 08/05/2021 regarding the European Super League project that they had presented with nine other clubs (six English, two Italians and one Spanish, in bold in the list below) on 18/04/2021.

Barça, Juventus and Real Madrid are reacting to UEFA's press release on 07/05/2021 in which the European body announced that nine clubs "acknowledge and accept that the Super League project was a mistake and apologise to fans, national associations, national leagues, fellow European clubs and UEFA" (see "further reading" section).

"We would be highly irresponsible if (...) we abandoned such mission to provide effective and sustainable answers to the existential questions that threaten the football industry," explained the three clubs in a joint statement, which News Tank Football has reproduced in full below.
