Law: legal implications of the aborted European Super League project (L. Fellous, sports lawyer)

"12 of Europe's leading football clubs announced the creation of a European Super League via a press release, on the evening of 18/04/2021. The principle: a closed league of 20 clubs, with 15 fixed clubs - including the 12 founders - and 5 variable clubs, chosen according to their performance the previous season," explained Laurent Fellous, a lawyer specialised in sports law and sports agent, in an analysis for News Tank Football on 07/05/2021.

"The Super League" is the name of the company whose creation was announced by a group of 12 (6 English clubs, 3 Spanish and 3 Italian) with the aim of organising a European Super League managed by its founders "as soon as possible".

• The 6 English clubs: Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.
• The 3 Spanish clubs: Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF.
• The 3 Italian clubs: AC Milan, FC Inter Milan and Juventus FC.
