Genius Sports: acquisition of Second Spectrum (statistics) for $200m and FanHub (games)

Genius Sports has acquired the statistics company Second Spectrum for $200m (€164m), according to the UK-based company, which provides data management, video streaming and integrity services (around sports betting), on 06/05/2021.

"The purchase price will be paid at closing in cash and shares of Genius Sports common stock. Consummation of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and expected to take place in the second quarter of 2021. Second Spectrum is the official tracking provider of the Premier League, NBA, and MLS, using advanced AI capabilities and computer vision technology to capture precise ball and player location-based data," explained Genius Sports.

Genius Sports also acquired FanHub, a company founded in 2012 that specialises in free-to-play (F2P) game design, on 03/05/2021. FanHub provides technology solutions built around three main service offerings: digital games, betting and activation via social networks. Its operations cover Australia, the UK, the US and Ukraine.
