Germany/DFB: president Fritz Keller to resign on 17/05/2021, R. Koch + P. Peters interim presidents

"Fritz Keller, president of the German Football Association (DFB) since 27/09/2019, declared his principal readiness to step down from his position as president after the end of the process at the DFB Sports Court on Monday (17/05/2021)," announced the German Football Association following an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee on 11/05/2021.

Fritz Keller had compared Rainer Koch, first vice-president of the DFB (who works as a judge in Munich), with the Nazi judge Roland Freisler (who handed down some 2,600 death sentences between 1942 and 1945 and took part in the Wannsee conference that planned the Holocaust on 20/01/1942) at a meeting of the DFB's executive committee on 23/04/2021.

The Ethics Chamber of the DFB Sports Court will convene on this matter on Friday 14/05/2021.
