Germany/DFB: Fritz Keller, president since September 2019, makes his departure official

"As already announced, I am stepping down as president in order for a profound and necessary new beginning at the DFB to take place. I take personal responsibility for my derailment at the presidential board meeting on 23/04/2021, which should remain an absolute low point for the dire DFB leadership situation," said Fritz Keller, president of the German Football Association since 27/09/2019, on 17/05/2021.

"Fritz Keller declared his principal readiness to step down from his position as president after the end of the process at the DFB Sports Court on Monday (17/05/2021)," announced the German Football Association previously following an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee on 11/05/2021.

Fritz Keller had compared Rainer Koch, first vice-president of the DFB (who works as a judge in Munich), with the Nazi judge Roland Freisler (who handed down some 2,600 death sentences between 1942 and 1945 and took part in the Wannsee conference that planned the Holocaust on 20/01/1942) at a meeting of the DFB's executive committee on 23/04/2021.
