Media: Nent to launch OTT service in the Netherlands in 2022 with Bundesliga and Formula 1 rights

The Swedish free and pay TV group Nent (Nordic entertainment group) will launch its Viaplay streaming service in the Netherlands in the first quarter of 2022, and has acquired the broadcasting rights to the Bundesliga, 2.Bundesliga and DFL-Supercup for the 2021-2029 cycle (eight seasons), as well as the rights to Formula 1 for the 2022-2024 cycle (three seasons), for this new market, on 20/05/2021.

Available in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Nent Group's Viaplay streaming platform will also be available in the US and Poland later in 2021. In addition to the Netherlands, the platform will be launched in four other markets by 2023. Nent Group aims to have 10.5 million Viaplay subscribers by the end of 2025 (including 6.5 million in its existing Scandinavian markets).

Nent renewed its broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga, the 2.Bundesliga and the DFL-Supercup in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania until 2028-29, on 27/04/2021. Nent thus holds these rights for the next eight seasons in 10 countries.
