CSR: UEFA and Blaise Matuidi (FRA) support Red Cross awareness campaign for healthcare workers

"UEFA will use the global visibility of football to help the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to raise awareness of the dangers faced by surgeons, nurses and health carers working on the frontlines of conflict," announced the body on 19/05/2021. French international player Blaise Matuidi has also pledged to support the ICRC and appears in the humanitarian aid institution's latest communication campaign, produced by the agency Saatchi & Saatchi (Publicis Sport group).

"The mobilisation of the player and the agency resulted in the production of a film (see below) in which an imaginary world vibrates for a surgical operation with a fervour equal to that of football fans in the real world. In one scene, viewers celebrate a successful operation like fans greeting a last-minute winning goal," said the ICRC, which became UEFA's first charity partner in 1997 and has since received over €3.5m in donations from the international body.
