2020-21 Europa League: Villarreal CF - Manchester United FC, the 50th final of the competition

The 50th final of the Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup, as it was previously known from its creation in 1971 until 2009) will see Villarreal CF (LaLiga Santander) take on Manchester United FC (Premier League) at the Gdańsk Stadium (Gdańsk, Poland) on Wednesday 26/05/2021 from 21:00 CET.

The Spanish club, whose first team has never won a trophy in Spain or at the level, will be looking to win the title and qualify directly for the group stage of the 2021-22 Champions League. Seventh in the Spanish league after Matchday 38, the final matchday of the season, Villarreal are currently guaranteed at least a place in the Europa Conference League, a new UEFA competition to be launched next season.

Manchester United, second in the 2020-21 Premier League, have already qualified for the next edition of the Champions League and will simply be aiming for a second success in the competition after winning in 2016-17.
