Super League: UEFA open disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid

"Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called 'Super League' project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander), FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) and Juventus FC (Serie A TIM) for a potential violation of UEFA's legal framework," announced the European body on 25/05/2021, adding that "further information will be made available in due course."

All three clubs have qualified for the 2021-22 Champions League group stage.

"The founding clubs have suffered, and continue to suffer, unacceptable third-party pressures, threats, and offenses to abandon the project," said Real, Barça and Juventus in a joint press release on 08/05/2021 regarding the European Super League project that they had presented with nine other clubs (six English, two Italians and one Spanish, in bold in the list below) on 18/04/2021.
