2020-21 Europa League: Villarreal CF win the final and claim their first ever trophy

Villarreal CF (LaLiga Santander) have been crowned 2020-21 Europa League champions after beating Manchester United FC (Premier League) (1-1 after extra time, 11-10 on penalties) at the Gdańsk Stadium (Gdańsk, Poland) on Wednesday 26/05/2021.

This is the Spanish club's first ever trophy, both domestically and at the European level (previously they had only been among the three Intertoto Cup winners in 2003 and 2004).

Seventh in LaLiga Santander at the end of the 2020-21 season, and thus guaranteed to qualify for the inaugural Europa Conference League if defeated by Manchester United, Villarreal will now participate in the group stage of the 2021-22 Champions League alongside four other Spanish clubs: Club Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC.
