Tennis: revenues of £47m and a net loss of £1.8m for the Lawn Tennis Association in 2020

The LTA posted revenues of £47m (€51.9m, £77.3m in 2019) and operating expenses of £53.5m (€59.1m, £72.9m in 2019) for an operating loss of £5.2m (-€5.7m, +£8.7m in 2019) for the year ended 31/12/2020, announced the body in its annual report published on 27/05/2021.

"In 2020 the LTA recorded an operating loss of £5.2m, which once gains in investments was taken into account, was reduced to an overall loss for the year of £1.8m. Compared to 2019 the LTA’s income fell by £30m due to the cancellation of events, including the cancellation of The Championships. Although the annual surplus was substantially covered by the AELTC's cancellation insurance policy, this resulted in a reduced figure from a normal year (see below). The LTA reduced its own costs by £19.3m (€21.3m), largely through the cancellation of its major events and reduction in costs in other areas of the business at the outset of the pandemic," explained the LTA.
