FC Bayern Munich: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to leave the club on 01/07/2021, Oliver Kahn to replace him

"At his own request and in close consultation with president and supervisory board chairman Herbert Hainer and the supervisory board, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will retire from his position as CEO of FC Bayern München AG (the commercial structure that manages the club's professional football team) with effect from 30/06/2021," announced FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) on 01/06/2021. Former German international goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will therefore succeed him as of 01/07/2021, six months before the initially planned date (see below).

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was a striker for the Bavarian club from 1974 to 1984 (310 matches, 162 goals), and returned to Bayern after his playing career to take up the position of vice-president in 1991. In 2002, he was appointed to his current position as chairman of the executive board (CEO) of the then newly founded FC Bayern München AG.
