Serie A: Zdenek Zeman named manager of Cagliari Calcio for 2014-15 season

Zdenek Zeman (ITA) has been named manager of Cagliari Calcio (Serie A) for the 2014-15 season, the club announced on 02/07/2014. He will take over from Ivor Pulga (ITA), who had held the post since 06/04/2014, and who was in turn replaced by Diego Lopez, who was dismissed for poor results.

Zdenek Zeman, 67, was the manager of AS Roma (Serie A) from 2012 to 2013.

Cagliari Calcio finished 15th in 2013-14 Serie A season with 39 points, seven points ahead of Catania, which were 18th and were relegated to Serie B with 32 points.

An agreement was reached for the sale of Cagliari Calcio (Serie A) between Massimo Cellino, owner of the club, and Tommaso Giulini, a former Inter Milan (Serie A) board member and CEO of Fluorsid (chemicals and mining) on 05/06/2014. The offer is estimated at €45m by the Italian press.
