Pay-TV channel beIN Sports broke two of its ratings records in France with the round of 16 Argentina-Switzerland match of the World Cup (1-0 aet, Sao Paulo): an average viewership of 1.273m from 18:00 to 20:30, and a peak audience of 1.682m late in the game, according to the media measurement firm Médiamétrie on 01/07/2014. Argentina-Switzerland was broadcast live exclusively on beIN Sports 1.

The last round of 16 of the World Cup between Belgium and the United States (2-1 aet, 01/07/2014, in Salvador), was broadcast at 22:00 CET and attracted 1.06m viewers on average, with a peak of 1.346m.

The previous record from beIN Sports was the round of 16 France-Nigeria match (2-0 in Brasilia on 30/06/2014), which was also shown on the free channel TF1: 1.160m viewers on average, with a peak of 1.273m.
