AC Spezia Calcio: Platek family to finance the modernisation of the Stadio Alberto Picco (€15m)

AC Spezia Calcio 1909 (Serie A TIM) will launch a project to modernise the Stadio Alberto Picco (10,336 capacity), which belongs to the municipality of La Spezia (Liguria, ITA) and of which it is the resident club, announced the Italian club on 26/06/2021.

The modernisation works, at a total cost of €15m, will be entirely financed by American businessman Robert Platek and his family, who became owners of the club in February 2021 (see below). The work, which will be managed by the Italian company GAU Arena, will begin before the start of the 2021-22 season with the renovation of the "Curva Piscina" (corner) and will last a total of three years.

"The renovated Stadio Alberto Picco will meet all the criteria required to participate in the Serie A TIM championship (the club was one of the three promoted in 2020-21) and will live up to the prestige and ambitions of Spezia Calcio, which is determined to ensure the best possible experience for its fans to continue to move forward together towards a bright and satisfying future," said the Italian club.
