"The six clubs involved in proposals to form a European Super League have today acknowledged once again that their actions were a mistake. As a gesture of goodwill, the clubs have collectively agreed to make a contribution of £22m (€25.5m), which will go towards the good of the game, including new investment in support for fans, grassroots football and community programmes," announced the Premier League and The FA on 09/06/2021.

These six clubs are Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC. Together with six other major European clubs (three Spanish, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Club Atlético de Madrid, and three Italian, Juventus FC, AC Milan and FC Inter Milan), they had announced their intention "to create a new competition, the Super League, governed by its founding clubs," on 18/04/2021.

However, two days later, the six English clubs backed down, after receiving negative reactions from the bodies, the British government, their partners and their supporters.
